HBO picks up two more comedies

HBO has picked up two more series, How to Make It in America and Bored to Death, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Both of the series’ received 8 episode orders.

HBO did some serious holiday shopping the past two days.

On Thursday, the pay cable network picked up to series two comedies: “How to Make It in America,” toplined by Bryan Greenberg and Victor Rasuk, and the Jason Schwartzman starrer “Bored to Death.”

Winter Is Coming: Again, these comedies were not likely to be in direct competition with Game of Thrones. However there have now been 3 pilots picked up out of the dozen or so originally in contention. It was originally believed that HBO would order around 6 new series’. So that leaves 3 spots left.

One nice thing to come out of this article is it helped give us a time line for when we can expect a decision from HBO regarding Thrones. It is mentioned that the pilot on How to Make It wrapped production the same day Obama was elected president. So it was approximately a month between the completion of the pilot and when HBO made a decision. Although, the article also mentions that HBO still has not made a decision on three more completed pilots, Washingtonienne, Suburban Shootout and Treme. So it could always take longer. I would guess that for Thrones a month is the minimum amount of time. Of course, we still have to wait for the pilot to be filmed, which could be a while yet.
