Dinklage was Martin’s top choice

George R. R. Martin has posted on his Not A Blog today discussing the big news. In the post he reveals that Peter Dinklage was his “dream cast” for the role of Tyrion. He also states that things are moving faster now and promises even more exciting news to come.

Winter Is Coming: The one great thing about how this adaptation is shaping up is how the author is completely, 100% behind almost every decision. Unlike a lot of other book-to-TV/movie adaptations where the author has to disassociate himself from the work. Of course he is the executive producer, but even still he has little control over who they cast or where they film, yet still he is thrilled with the decisions made by Benioff, Weiss and HBO. I think this should lay to rest any fears people may have in the overall direction and tone of this series. Great to hear that Martin is as excited as we are upon hearing the Dinklage news and also great to hear more exciting announcements are on the horizon!
