Jennifer Ehle cast as Catelyn

According to the Hollywood Reporter, two time Tony-winning actress Jennifer Ehle has been cast as Catelyn. Here is the report:

Jennifer Ehle has been added to the pilot “Game of Thrones.”

On “Thrones,” HBO’s adaptation of the George R.R. Martin fantasy-book series, Ehle will play Catelyn Stark, Ned Stark’s (Sean Bean) wife who originally was betrothed to Ned’s older brother. When the older brother was killed, she fulfilled her duty by marrying Ned and securing the alliance between their two houses.

Winter Is Coming: I had heard rumblings of this casting about a week ago. I didn’t post anything because the rumors were a bit unsubstantiated. Turns out they were correct. A very solid choice for Catelyn, in my opinion. Looks wise and talent wise. No, she’s not Gillian Anderson, but I think she might be a better choice. She obviously has the talent and she is more of an unknown. So instead of seeing Agent Scully, we will just see Catelyn.

This was part of the news that GRRM was planning on spilling at the Worldcon, but he hints that he has more. We will just have to wait and find out what that may be.
