Weekend recap

A pretty confusing weekend in terms of Thrones news. To recap, Jaime has definitely been cast. Dany is possibly cast. For those that weren’t following along this weekend, here is what happened.

-Actress Natalie Victoria tweets stating that the role of Dany has been cast and that HBO would announce it in “a few weeks.”

-After this news spreads around the internet, a fan that is attending Worldcon posts confirming that GRRM mentioned that Jaime had been cast “as well.” Everyone takes that to mean that Martin confirmed both Dany and Jaime had been cast.

-Martin puts up a Not A Blog post that states he doesn’t know anything about Dany being cast. Mention of Jaime is lacking, which further implies that Jaime is definitely cast.

-WiC commenter Legion states that a friend of his talked to Harry Lloyd (Viserys) while attending the play Ghosts. Lloyd stated that Dany had been cast but he couldn’t reveal who got the role. One would expect Lloyd to have a good knowledge of this as he most likely had to read with the actresses up for the role.

So, to sum up, we know for sure that the role of Jaime is filled. We are just waiting on HBO for official word of who landed the part. Dany may possibly be cast, but if so GRRM doesn’t know about it. Or he is just being intentionally coy. Either way, we don’t have official confirmation on that one just yet. I suspect that we will get an official announcement sometime this week for Jaime and we will see if it includes the Dany casting. I will be staying up until midnight every night so that this time I (hopefully) won’t miss it!
