Odds and ends
A few small updates from over the weekend:
-Conan Stevens updated his original post about getting an audition for Game of Thrones. It seems that what many here were proposing (Stevens would audition for Drogo with the hope of ending up as Gregor) is actually true. He mentions they picked someone else for the role, so that means Drogo is cast or very nearly cast.
-A tweet from Marisa Clayton indicates that she will be working on the post-production of Game of Thrones in February (via Ran from Westeros). Clayton works for Modern VideoFilm, a post-production studio in Burbank with quite an extensive credit list. Their website mentions they also do some visual effects, so it is possible they may be handling the effects for the pilot.
-It seems that a costume designer has been selected, Michele Clapton. She is a BAFTA award winning designer, having won for her work on The Devil’s Whore. She has also worked on other TV productions, including the recent BBC Sense & Sensibility adaptation. Here is a glimpse of her work on that project.
-A post over at a child acting forum seems to indicate that they have another one of the children cast. In this case a Scotland based parent is indicating his/her son was booked to work on the show for a few days. Not sure if this is for a featured role or just as background or what. If it is a featured role it might be for Tommen or Rickon, as both of those roles would only need to be present at the shoot for a few days.
-Commenter Archdaimon points us to a Danish interview with Nikolaj Coster-Waldau in which he makes mention of not only Game of Thrones, but this blog! Archdaimon provides a quick translation:
SEOGHØR.DK The 39 year old Danish actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is fairly well known in the US. Both in movies, but also now in television, crossing the “pond” to participate in a new show.
But for the role in which he was recently cast, not everybody thinks that he is a perfect fit, he announces today in “Ekstra Bladet”.
In connection with his new Danish movie “At The Worlds End” he was asked whether or not he wants plastic surgery to look younger.
-No, he says, it is not something I wish for.
– But it is funny that you ask, I am going to America in a short while to shoot the pilot of a television show, and in connection with that, I went to a blog which is about the novels the show is based upon. There I could follow who had been cast in other roles, and what people thought. They were happy enough I got the part – except for my nose. There were quite a few that thought it didn’t match their image of the role. “That nose – it is just too weird!”
– I had never thought about before. It is broken and strange, but I could never bring myself to change it.
