Day 9: Taking a break

As far as I can tell, today was another off day for the production (seems like they get Sundays off). Everyone has been working real hard, early mornings and late nights, and things seem to be running on schedule. So this off day was definitely deserved.

GRRM posted a short blog post about arriving in Belfast.

Late, wet, and bedraggled, but I’m here.

Tomorrow heads will roll. Well, one head, at least.

Based on that, it sounds like they will be filming the Gared beheading scene tomorrow. It seems that may be one of the last exterior shoots they have to do. The only other one being, I believe, the King’s arrival. All the courtyard scenes and the feast scene were shot at Doune Castle and the prologue has been completed down at Tollymore Forest. After the execution and the King’s arrival they will likely be heading inside the Paint Hall for all the interior scenes. Then on to Morocco.

Also, I wanted to take a moment and send some virtual well wishes to Julia Frey. Her recent blog post talks about the downsides of working on a production like this, chiefly being away from family and friends. She mentions that reading WiC has helped cheer her up and even given her a few virtual friends. So to Julia I say, glad you’ve been enjoying the blog! Hope that my posts haven’t seemed too stalkerish. Good luck and hang in there! (Oh and your comments on the safety graphic I sent you are hilarious!)

Lastly, to our UK-based readers, don’t forget about George’s signing at Eason’s and post-signing meet up at McHugh’s Pub on Tuesday evening. For the lucky few that are going, be sure to be armed with a camera and a good memory! See you tomorrow folks!
