Day 12: Filming the King’s arrival
While the fans get to live vicariously through the lucky few able to go to yesterday’s signing and moot, the cast and crew were back at it today for day 12 of filming the Game of Thrones pilot. Based on reports, it sounds like they might be filming the King’s arrival today and possibly tomorrow. We know that much of the cast had an early 5 AM call time today and had to leave the moot last night at a somewhat decent hour.
Also, Rimshot is to be serving as a “Stark servant” on location somewhere. There aren’t many scenes remaining to be filmed that would require a Stark servant. So again, the King’s arrival seems the likeliest guess as to what scene he will be appearing in.
Some more crew member news, Tatiana S. Riegel has been confirmed to be editing the pilot per Variety. (Credit to Thoros of Myr for spotting this one.) Riegel had been listed as editor on the Game of Thrones IMDb page a little while back but I was waiting for some official confirmation before reporting it as we all know how reliable IMDb can be. Riegel most recently worked as editor on The Men Who Stare at Goats and the pilot episode of the Showtime series United States of Tara.
Not expecting anything, but if I get any set reports or leaked photos today, I will update this post.
UPDATE: Adam Whitehead provides an interesting tidbit about HBO hiring a dialect coach for the Dothraki language. Technically this was information gleaned during the moot, but since it relates to the series more than just being some fun stories about mingling with the actors I’ll post it here.
HBO have hired a dialogue coach and linguistics expert to create a working Dothraki vocabulary for the actors and extras to use in the Pentos scenes. They also have a working vocabulary guide which they handed out to the actors. As has been said many times before, GRRM isn’t bothered about how readers pronounce words, but obviously they needed something moe consistent for the series, and he agreed to help them out with that.
