Still casting; Filming date fixed

George R. R. Martin has confirmed on his blog that casting for season one of Game of Thrones continues in Dublin, Belfast and London. Currently they are in the process of casting Shae.

Auditions continue in Dublin, Belfast, and London for a whole bunch of parts, both major and minor, on HBO’s GAME OF THRONES.

Sometimes it is a very hard job.

I’ve just reviewed the tapes of twelve young women reading for the part of Shae.

Excuse me. I need to go take a cold shower now.

Winter Is Coming: Although it’s nice to get an update on the production’s progress, the lack of casting news, or even hints, is disappointing. I suppose the positive thing to take away from this post is that they seem to be nearing the end of casting. GRRM indicated before that they would be casting in order of appearance and Shae appears fairly late in the books. Assuming they follow the books closely with regards to Shae’s introduction she likely won’t appear until episode seven or eight. Which means they should have a bunch of parts cast, or nearly cast, by now. When HBO will decide to announce them is anyone’s guess.

UPDATE: GRRM adds in the comments that the official start date for filming is July 26.
