The Beautiful Game

I know we’re all anticipating some casting news and hopefully it will be coming very soon. However there is something else that people are eagerly anticipating and it will be upon us even sooner. Tomorrow, in fact (or today if you are up very late somewhere in Europe). I speak, of course, of the World Cup.

With the international readership that this site gets I think it will be fun to all follow along and root on our country as the whole world stops to watch the best soccer (I know many of you just cringed at that word) players on the planet compete for the ultimate prize. I think a global event like this, that only comes along once every four years, is the perfect opportunity to have Winter Is Coming’s first off-topic discussion thread. I know many WiC readers are big fans of football (there, you happy now?), as am I, so I hope that everyone will have fun with this. To the rest of you, just ignore this post and your regularly scheduled Game of Thrones updates will continue as usual.

So with less than 12 hours until kickoff of the first game, feel free to use this thread to talk football from now until the tournament ends. GO USA!
