Jory signs, the rest backgrounded

George R. R. Martin announced it is now official, Jaime Sives has been signed on to play Jory Cassel. He remarks on the irony of the fact that Ned is going to be guarded by a Jaime. Of more interest is the last paragraph about other guard roles:

So far as I know, Jory will be the only one of the Stark guards in King’s Landing with a speaking role. The rest of the Ned’s men — Desmond, Fat Tom, Hullen, Vayon Poole — will be there, but as extras, featured extras, and background characters.

Hear Me Roar: Good to hear Sives is firmly in command as the captain of the Stark guard. We now have a better idea about where the minor role cuts will be made, based on this case. Hope the good lines these other characters have in the book are reassigned to Jory.

UPDATE: GRRM confirms Ian McElhinney has been cast as Barristan Selmy. That leaves only Conan Stevens as the unsigned cast member that was leaked out last week.
