GRRM on composers
With much of the cast in place (still a few notable exceptions who we will hopefully hear about soon) and directors announced, attention has turned to who will be orchestrating the music for Game of Thrones. George R. R. Martin weighed in on the comments of his recent post about where they stand right now in regards to hiring a composer:
We have several composers in mind. In fact, the leading contenders have already been interviewed, and it’s just a matter of making the final choice. (I have my own favorite).
Bottom line, it’s probably too late to be tossing any new names into the hat. The composer will be one of those we’ve already interviewed.
Winter Is Coming: Well this at least confirms that there will be a traditional score. There had been some discussion of using only medieval-style music or having no score at all. Or using the dreaded, modern music. It sounds like none of those options will be the case though and it also sounds like they might be close to a decision. Might fan favorite Bear McCreary get the gig? Or will they go with an HBO veteran such as Jeff Beal?
