Teale replaces Halligan as Alliser Thorne
HBO has confirmed that Owen Teale will be taking over the role of Alliser Thorne, previously held by Derek Halligan. Teale is, as we reported, already in Northern Ireland and has begun filming his scenes. No reason has been given for the recast.
Winter Is Coming: All those worried about losing James Cosmo can breathe a big sigh of relief. Still I thought Halligan was a perfect Thorne. Teale has a much kinder face. However, as a Tony-award winning actor, I’m sure he will be able to portray the gruff master-at-arms without much trouble.
