Quick hits: Casting call and fan storyboard

A couple quick Game of Thrones items for you as we come down off Sunday night’s high:

A casting call has gone out for a stable boy and Lommy Greenhands. The stable boy would be the one who has a run-in with Arya near the end of the first book. Lommy doesn’t actually appear in the first book, his first appearance comes early in A Clash of Kings as Yoren and Co. begin their return to the Wall. It seems that Benioff & Weiss plan to shoot a scene in the final episode that shows the beginning of this journey as the casting call mentions Lommy will have only one appearance in season one, but has a much larger part in season two. Here is Lommy’s description from the casting call:

A selfish and nasty bully who only looks out for number 1 (himself). After working as an apprentice for a Dyer, he gained the nickname ‘Greenhands’ after his hands and forearms were dyed green. This character features only once in season 1 but has a much larger part in season 2. Looking for someone really talented for this role.

Also, this really cool fan-made storyboard of the opening scene of Game of Thrones was linked to over at the Westeros forums. It was created by artist Jason Mondala, who has other great ASOIAF art you can check out here. Seeing this got me really excited and I hope that HBO releases stuff like this through their Making Game of Thrones site.

UPDATE: More info on Lommy – rehearsals will be in October, and the filming location is Malta. Interesting! If this is correct, the running speculation is that Malta may be also used for some King’s Landing locations, such as Flea Bottom.

[Thanks to Samantha Hirst for the casting info!]
