Greenhands & Hot Pie … and more!

Somewhere between catching his breath and heading off to Ireland, GRRM has managed to throw us a few more bones–though he has dispensed with the clues for now and is giving it to us straight. In his latest Not A Blog entry, George says:

The part of Hot Pie will be played by a newcomer named BEN HAWKEY. And as Lommy Greenhands, we will have EROS VLAHOS, best known for his role in the “Nanny McPhee” movies.

(That’s Eros, there on the right, choking himself out, apparently.)

(No pics of Ben Hawkey as yet. And I doubt we’ll find one of him displaying the same high level of necessary self-correction that Eros is showing.)

UPDATE by HmR: George has updated his post with a photo of Ben Hawkey (left). FaB was right, no self-correction there. Then again, he’s the more likeable of the two.

George goes on to mention a few more roles:

We’ve very close to naming actors for the roles of Stiv and Ser Meryn Trant, waiting only HBO approval, and Nina and D&D have been looking at Kevan Lannisters as well. Soon, I think…

Fire And Blood: The casting count goes higher, and we dance a gleeful jig. Many people have believed for a while now that Ser Kevan is necessary–and it looks like we’re getting our wishes. Interesting that Ser Meryn Trant is the kingsguard they chose as a named role; we can speculate what that means, exactly, but all you have to do is see Lommy and Hot Pie to know that they’re already plotting for a second season. Bloody well right.

Finally, yes, Stiv is necessary, and I’m glad he’s here. You can’t introduce Osha without Stiv.
