The Kingsguard adds a knight

As if a new photo wasn’t enough, HBO has confirmed a new casting: Ian Beattie as Meryn Trant. Beattie is a Belfast-based actor whose biggest role to date was as Antigonus in Oliver Stone’s Alexander. Meryn Trant is a member of the Kingsguard whose most famous scene involves an encounter with Syrio Forel. It seems likely he will be, along with Jaime and Barristan, the only other member of the Kingsguard to have a speaking role.

Winter Is Coming: I never had a clear mental image of any of the random Kingsguard knights, so I can’t really say Beattie fits my image of Trant. But he looks like someone who could be a knight. So that is good enough for me. Casting news continues to trickle in, with the parts of Stiv and Kevan Lannister still awaiting to be filled. And possibly more.
