GRRM confirms Bradley as Frey, we add one more

George R. R. Martin has confirmed on his Not A Blog that our guess was correct, David Bradley will be Lord Walder Frey. David Bradley is a veteran actor best known for his role as Argus Filch in the Harry Potter films. Great job by A. Visitor for puzzling out these clues!

Okay, you nailed another one… some of you, anyway.

Yes, the role is Walder Frey, Lord of the Crossing. The Late Lord Frey, wedding caterer of infamy, who annoyed Dunk when just a child in “The Mystery Knight.” And the actor is DAVID BRADLEY, best known for his portrayal of Argus Filch in the Harry Potter films. Who was presumably named after Argus the shipwright, who built the ARGO for a lad named Jason once upon a time.

Bradley has also appeared in works by all the aforementioned writers, and crossed paths with our Hound, Rory McCann, in HOT FUZZ.

Good work, all.

We also have received another casting confirmation, the role of Tobho Mott, the blacksmith who is training Gendry, will be played by British actor Andrew Wilde. Wilde has a number of TV credits to his name, but appears to have been out of acting for almost 15 years. The photo of him on the left is from the film Nineteen Eighty-Four which came out that same year, so it is quite old. If anyone is able to find a more recent photo, let us know.

Winter Is Coming: Bradley is perfect for the cranky old Lord Frey. I’m sure he will be very easy to dislike. And it’s nice to fill another hole in our cast page with the Tobho Mott casting. The remaining roles are filling up. The one question still left to answer, will we get a Roose Bolton in season one?
