Quick Hits: Lists, candles and GRRM signing

Let’s take a look at some Game Of Thrones-related news bits from this past week, shall we?

• Lots of “what are you looking forward to on TV in 2011” lists are coming out now and Game Of Thrones is popping up on many of them. Mo Ryan included it on TVSquad’s list, IMDb has it on their list and TV.com has already declared a top 5 spot for Thrones in their “Look Back at 2011” list for next year!
• In other online media news, The Atlantic’s Alyssa Rosenberg published a nice piece last week about HBO’s gamble with Game Of Thrones and its potential for a ground-breaking success.
• Bet you didn’t think the making of candles for film and TV productions would be worthy of a story in a newspaper? Well, you’d be wrong as this article at Wales Online talks about Gelligroes Mill and Candle Workshop making candles for Game Of Thrones. The Prince of Wales’ official candle makers have also made candles for films such as Pirates of the Caribbean and Harry Potter and TV shows such as Doctor Who and Merlin.
• Lastly, as most of you know, George R. R. Martin is heading to LA next weekend to appear on HBO’s winter TCA Game Of Thrones panel. While there, he has plans to have a book signing at Vroman’s Bookstore in Pasadena on Sun, Jan 9 at 5 PM. Shortly afterwards, he plans to meet with the fans for a bit.
