Quick Hits: UK promotions & press, podcasts and fan forums

Some Thrones news from the past week or so:

• As we go through a bit of lull here in the States, the publicity for Thrones continues to ramp up across the pond. Sky launched their new channel, Sky Atlantic, a couple weeks ago and the first program they aired was a preview of the different shows they have to offer. This included footage of Game of Thrones and snippets of new interviews with some of the cast.
• In addition, the UK’s biggest sci-fi/fantasy magazine SFX has a two-page preview of Game of Thrones in their latest issue. Their website has a preview of the article and Adam Whitehead relays some of the more interesting quotes from the piece at Westeros.
• Speaking of Westeros, Elio and Linda, the brains behind the Westeros website and forums, were guest hosts on A Podcast of Ice and Fire’s most recent episode. They talk quite a bit about the genesis of their site and ASOIAF fandom as a whole, but give their thoughts on Thrones at about the 41:50 mark.
• In other podcast news, there stands to be quite a few Game of Thrones specific podcasts launched once the show starts to air, but these two brothers have gotten a head start on them all by releasing episode one of Bjork Brothers Present A Game of Thrones.
• Lastly, in forum-related news, a new forum has been created for those who wish to talk about HBO shows. HBO Forum, it is appropriately called, and looking over the discussions I see that the Thrones subsection is the most active already.
