Quick Hits: Opening theme covers, interviews and podcasts

As we gear up for episode three, here are some small news items from around the web:

  • The covers of the opening theme music continue, with two new heavy metal versions popping up, one from Arnold Nesis and the other from White Noise Lab.
  • Kristian Nairn (Hodor!) has been busy with interviews, as he recently appeared on the YoGPoD podcast and was interviewed at WoW Insider.
  • Some more interviews: Kit Harington for TV Guide (both print and video) and AOL TV UK has a collection of video interviews.
  • Essayist and author Pearson Moore has written a series of essays on Game of Thrones that have been compiled into an ebook entitled “Direwolves and Dragons.”
  • Conan Stevens (Gregor Clegane) has a new blog post about torrenting, in response to some of the discussion here and elsewhere.
  • The HBO Shop has added a couple, cool new items: a poster map of Westeros and a “Stick ‘Em with the Pointy End” t-shirt!
  • Weekly podcast recaps of Game of Thrones are starting to pop up, here are a few that I don’t think we’ve mentioned before and may be worth a listen: Boomtron, Sword and Laser, MTV Geek (this last one also features Elio and Linda from Westeros.org).
  • Speaking of weekly recaps, I’ve been enjoying Sky Atlantic’s Thronecast series. (This one also features Elio and Linda — man, these two are everywhere!) Basically they breakdown each weeks’ episode, while also highlighting a particular family and playing a few snippets of an exclusive cast member interview (Mark Addy and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau have been interviewed, so far).
