GRRM viewing auditions now, casting clues to come
George R. R. Martin has posted on his Not A Blog a hint that there will be some casting clues soon. The post bears the familiar icon of Froggy the Gremlin and says:
Hiya, Kids, Hiya, Hiya
I’ll be back soon, I will, I will.
Watch this space.
In the comments, GRRM goes on to reveal that he has seen auditions for Melisandre, Davos, Brienne, Asha, Margaery, Ygritte, Xaro Xhoan Daxos, Dolorous Edd and more. But not Stannis yet.
Winter Is Coming: Great to get confirmation of some season two characters. Mel, Davos, Brienne, and Asha were givens. Even Xaro would have been a tough cut. But Margaery and Ygritte could easily have been held off until season three. And, most of all, I’m glad to see Dolorous Edd made it in!
About Stannis, GRRM mentions not having seen any auditions for him yet. My initial reaction is that is because they already have someone in mind for the role and are negotiating a contract now. Hence GRRM hinting at some upcoming news. But he adds that ‘yet’ in there, which implies he will see some auditions eventually. But maybe he’s being intentionally misleading? I don’t know. Either way, I want some casting clues soon!
