Quick Hits: Emmys, music and more

Here are some news and notes from this past week:

• Friday was the day Emmy ballots were due. As such, there have been many articles evaluating Thrones’ chance at some Emmy nominations. TV Overmind looks at John Noble versus Peter Dinklage, The Hollywood Reporter gives 5 reasons why Game of Thrones might win Emmys, LA Times talks with Sean Bean about his Emmy chances, while Gold Derby talks with Emilia Clarke about her chances. The Emmy nominations will be announced on July 14.
• Speaking of awards, the sci-fi site Airlock Alpha has opened the voting on their Portal Awards. Go and vote for Game of Thrones and its cast! You can vote once per day.
• A few podcasts reviewing the finale, and the whole season, have hit the web: Slashfilm talks with guest-host Myles McNutt about the first season, Talking TV Ryan and Ryan evaluates the finale, Hitfix’s Alan Sepinwall and Dan Fienberg talk the finale and the first season in their podcast Firewall & Iceberg.
• Game of Thrones has inspired some cool fan art and mashups, including these cute illustrated characters and these hilarious Game of Thrones of Muppets.
• Salon looks at the life lessons one can learn from Game of Thrones.
