Quick Hits: Nikolaj! GRRM! D&D! Oona! And… “Dark Side of the Throne?”

  • First and fastest, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau will be doing a LIVE CHAT TODAY via HBO Connect at 1:30PM EST. Hopefully if you’re interested in joining in, you read this notice in time. Run, don’t walk! There’s a Great Dane to catch!
  • Oona Chaplin, granddaughter of Charlie Chaplin, let it slip in a recent interview that she has a role in Game of Thrones. We’re still wondering what role she got. She’s got that Rhoynish cast, neh? Dunno if THIS Spanish interview gives any extra details. Que? UPDATE: Ran from Westeros, bless his soul, tickled some of the HBO powers-that-be with his magic ponytail and they let slip that Oona will be playing the role of Jeyne. Now if only we knew which Jeyne…
  • Dan Anthony of Authors@Google had a live streaming interview with George R.R. Martin a short time ago, and wouldn’t you know it—that sucker is up on You Tube! Enjoy!.
  • Mo Ryan is at it again! All you MoFos out there, gather at the feet of “AOL Artemis” and read another interesting interview. There’s sexposition talk! Mo Knows Thrones!
  • Aye, lads! The Belfast Telegram has a short article about filming beginning once more at the Paint Hall. Dave and D.B. say some stuff. Well, not much. But you should read this. It will take nine seconds!
  • The Hollywood Reporter has a small flurry of interviews regarding the 2011 Emmys; among their victims are David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. Check it!
  • Paul Inglis, Supervising Art Director for Game of Thrones, is interviewed by Flickering Myth. He briefly talks about his work with GoT, as well as the upcoming Alien “prequel” Prometheus.
  • LOL. Here. Enjoy a 16-Bit Game of Thrones video parody. Not Safe for Work (language and dorkiness).
  • NYMag’s The Vulture asks if Jay-Z and Kanye West’s new album “Watch the Throne” is secretly about Game of Thrones. I say thee nay! (Even though the maker of this video for “No Church in the Wild” would tend to suggest otherwise.) But hey, it’s funny to speculate that GoT could have its very own Wizard of Oz-meets-Dark Side of the Moon moment. And if you’re too young to get that reference, well, screw you.
  • Looks like the Blackfish is still a non-entity in season 2, at least according to Ran at Westeros; GRRM states he’s seen all the audition tapes for every role, and has not seen any Blackfish. So more than likely we’ll see him in season 3, or season 4, or… or he’s just gonna be replaced. Quick, someone get Blackfish Blues a valium!
  • Are you blue about the Blackfish? Missing The Pointy End (whose creator, apparently, only works ten weeks out of the year)? Or just in dire need of a laugh? Zombiepocalypse did a ‘Thronecentric comic to tide you over. You can thank me later.
  • Lastly, yes, it was me, flubulicious FaBio who accidentally posted the weekly poll a day early, not Hear Me Roar. He’d never throw me under the bus and blame me though. You have a problem with this? I’ll fight you all!
