Hertfordshire town Kings Langley becomes King’s Landing to promote Game of Thrones
A small historic town in Hertfordshire, Kings Langley, has transformed itself into King’s Landing as part of a Game of Thrones promotion by HBO. The town unveiled its new sign today proclaiming itself as Capital of the Seven Kingdom (and reminding everyone to drive carefully), while the Kings Langley School choir sang their rendition of The Rains Of Castamere.
The idea for the transformation originally came when a Game of Thrones producer misheard Kings Langley being announced as King’s Landing while waiting at a railway station.
King’s Landing will remain a spot on the map until February 23, the launch of the Game of Thrones Season 3 DVD in the UK. Until then local businesses will be getting in on the Thrones fun in a bid to boost tourism, and fans are being encouraged to tweet pictures of themselves at the sign using the hashtag #KingsLandingUK.
