Emilia Clarke covers Vs. Magazine

Game of Thrones promotion continues to ramp up, and Emilia Clarke graces the cover of another magazine. A gorgeous fashion spread and interview can be found in the pages of the ‘Better’ issue of Vs., a bi-annual international fashion and lifestyle magazine.

Emilia has come a long way from being a 19 year old girl in drama school rushing to auditions between classes: “There was this one for a deodorant and they were going to play a song that I had to dance to. It was a particularly sordid song, and I looked around the room as I walked in and thought, ‘Am I being pranked?'”

Luckily she didn’t become the face of deodorant, instead landing the part of Daenerys Targaryen shortly after graduating. Daenerys is arguably one of the strongest female characters on television today, from whom Emilia has picked up a few things. And she’s sure to pick up a few more from her role as Sarah Connor in the new Terminator film: “Playing feisty hard-hitting women gives me a chance to be everything I’m not. No, I’m not fishing for compliments. I love playing a character that has a skill set that I don’t have, so I have to learn. I think this is one of best things about being an actress – to come away with so much more knowledge of various aspect of different careers. I’m going to be awesome at wielding weapons, driving fast cars and generally being badass. I’ll be hanging out with Terminators and whatnots, including them to flat whites and generally chilling.”

Daenerys may be a badass, but she does have one advantage when it comes to blocking out the haters: no internet. Emilia has one rule about googling herself – never do it. “If you come out of the doctor’s and they tell you that you have an ailment, never Google it. I believe searching yourself comes under the same bracket. It will only end in tears.”
