Alfie Allen talks Theon Greyjoy, answers fan questions with IGN and ET
Alfie Allen recently sat down with both IGN and Entertainment Tonight to promote the Game of Thrones Season 3 DVD release. Alfie talks all things Theon Greyjoy, particularly his torturous past season, answers fan questions, and more.
In the first video from IGN Alfie reveals that at the end of Season 2 the Thrones writers left him hanging. As Theon is nowhere to be found in in the third book, and the writers are known to take creative license, they led him to believe his character had died, and even offered him a zombie possibility before revealing that Theon’s storyline would be moved up into Season 3. Alfie also discusses the physical and emotional toll Season 3’s torture had on him, and how it was important to become friends and develop trust with Iwan Rheon, who portrayed Ramsay Snow. And after being locked in a room with Iwan for the majority of filming, how it was exciting to watch most of Season 3 from more of a fan’s perspective.
In the second video from IGN Alfie discusses the massive fan reaction to the Red Wedding, and as a fan of the series if he wishes he had steered clear of spoilers and not read ahead in the books. He admits that he has been the brunt of some mean jokes on the streets, but nothing compared to co-star Jack Gleeson who has taken it in stride. Alfie also jokes that Theon is the worst person in Game of Thrones, but that he does struggle with his own self hatred.
And in the third video from IGN Alfie answers a bunch of fan submitted questions ranging from what Theon dislikes about himself, to his best and worst moments on set, and his favorite line from Game of Thrones.
In his sit down with Entertainment Tonight Alfie repeats much of the same details from filming the torture scenes, but also discusses how his fitness and diet routine differ when he is and isn’t filming, as well as what he likes to indulge in, and what he refuses to eat again, when the seasons have wrapped.
