AxeyFabulous! The Making of a Game of Thrones Review Show
FaB here, with FaBcentric news and offering yet another way to get your Game of Thrones review fix!
Well, first: I have a show! Here it is:
Everything in this video is true! (Mostly. I am not actually a young girl, and I do know a little of the ways of war.) Below the cut is a brief tale about my sojourn into the YouTubeverse.
The idea came after I awkwardly guest-starred in various Game of Thrones reviews with one of my bosses over at TVEquals/HappyCool. She is Unsullied, and I was basically there to correct her, in a non-spoilery fashion, on various missed points. Like any good nerd should!
Eventually the idea was floated that I should do my own reviews. Being weird and dorkmonstrous, I politely declined until my bosses finally wore me down.
(Besides! I would get to be on TeeVee! And isn’t that everyone’s goal?)
(Yes, that was tongue-in-cheek. I’m a writer, not a face. And I’m a terrible actor; when putting on a “show” I can come off as quite smug. It’s why I respect the hell out of good actors. It ain’t easy! If I had it my way, I would write the script and sit someone else down at my desk to be “me.” Sadly (?) few people are me.)
I am mostly pleased by my first starring foray. I basically come off as “twitchy and awkward” (as a friend put it) rather than smug, so that’s a… plus? I think. There were a few bumps along the way, however. I don’t have any of the usual fancy-schmancy filming gear, and so relied on natural lighting in my “lair.” (Like any good gnome, I have a lair.) Additionally this was filmed over the course of two days, so the lighting continually varies.
No, I don’t own two “Support The Bottom” tee-shirts. I wore the same shirt two days in a row. Don’t judge me.
A lot was cut. Because basically I can’t stop the wandering tangents. Some of the (actual) content will probably make it into future episodes… with me in the same shirt. My mother is going to have words with me.
But basically (as you probably guessed) AxeyFabulous will be a weekly thing. I’m starting in my comfort zone, Game of Thrones, because Game of Thrones is what I know. The new bosses here at WiC were considerate enough to let me post this non-WiC-owned content up, which I appreciate. And I will still be doing Twitter recaps and occasional Curtain Call posts…
Though I am nearly certain no characters will bite it this season!
Either way, I can’t wait. Be excellent and give FaB a LIKE! Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a Twitter deluge to prepare for.
