Oz of Thrones: I leave for three days to go to a festival and when I get home, my girlfriend has been thrown out of a damn hole in the floor.

Strap on your parachute and let’s get going…

As requested, less synopsis and more my thoughtsis.

Tyrion and Jaime scenes may be the best recurring set piece this season, and it is no doubt the only time that Tyrion is receiving any type of support (with the exception of sad Pod). But Pod is on the road with Bri, and Tyrion seemingly does not have a friend in the world other than his brother and Bronn (oh shit, edit required). Jaime has come to the conclusion that he is almost useless without his sword hand, which I believe is part of the reason he identifies with the hardships that his dwarf brother has faced throughout his life.

The Mountain v.3 is seen gutting a few guys for no good reason other than to show he is a freaking beast and to remind us that you would have to be an idiot to want to face him. Cersei’s obsession with burying her imp brother simply won’t stop. You have to give her credit for persistence as well as giving the writers credit for making the majority of us hate her. Oh, and Lena Headey is pretty damn talented herself. The Mountain is going to fight someone. But who?

Ok, we know who. But how is Ty going to make it happen? It has been well established that Oberyn wants a piece of the Mountain due to past events, but Oberyn stands to lose a lot including his life. But he is quick, and the Mountain looked slow. But it only takes one blow from the Icelandic giant. The shot with him standing by beside Cersei almost didn’t look real.

Arya and the Hound are still meandering around somewhere, but at least we did get confirmation that they are still headed to the Vale when talking to the old man. Arya continues to learn more from the Hound who mercy kills the ailing man. And the Jaqen’s cell mate and travel companion Rorge shows up to bite the Hound. Word spreads fast when bounties are posted. Apparently Tywin tweeted it. Rorge meets the pointy end of needle and in death is reminded that it isn’t wise for people to bite dogs.

Off to the Wall, where Alliser is still a jackass and to spite Jon, won’t listen to a damn idea he has. The sealing of the tunnel seems exceptionally logical to me, for if they can’t get past it, they have to come over it. That would give a low number of Crows a decided advantage over the Wildlings. But it didn’t matter because Alliser is a finalist for the jackass award, again.

All things considered, the impending battle at the Wall looks to be a Crow bloodbath if something dramatically different doesn’t happen between now and the biggest fire the north has ever seen.

Who just walked into Tyrion’s cell? I couldn’t get over how different Jerome Flynn looked in some decent threads. But who the hell is Lollys Stokeworth? I guess it doesn’t really matter. The main idea is that Cersei has gotten to Bronn too, and now Tyrion is left without a champion. There has always been an indication that while Bronn has considered Tyrion a friend, his loyalty lies to whomever may be paying him the most. As Bronn said last season, ”I’m a sellsword. I sell my sword.” You can’t blame Bronn for wanting to better his situation, but Tyrion’s situation continues to decline.

So I really thought that in a puff of magic smoke, a letter from Tywin was going to appear on Dany’s table and in response she would send Daario over to Westeros to get the ball rolling on what would be an interesting twist in both storylines. But it was not to be. Instead we get Daario butt cheeks and the implication that he and Dany did the dirty dragon dance. And of course, Jorah has to catch Daario leaving the scene of the crime with shirt unbuttoned and pants unzipped with the comment burn, “She’s in a good mood.” I have never wanted Jorah to deck someone so bad.

“I will not do anymore nude scenes in Game of Thrones” said Carice van Houton, never. And I applaud her for it, not because I want to see her naked, but because it is her character. Red Velvet seems to use magic and sex and potions in her work for the Lord of Light. I have this horrible feeling that Shireen is going to be sacrificed.

The next scene with Arya and the Hound could be one of their best. The Hound states that Arya isn’t worth the trouble after she tries to put fire on his wound, but you can tell he doesn’t really mean it. The way he was scarred figuratively and literally come out in this scene and to me, Rory McCann once again deserves to be considered for some type of award. The unlikely duo are bonding somewhat like a father and daughter.

And oh snap… its pie time! The duo of BriPod meet one third of the band formerly known as ArGenPie and HP gives them the rundown on the importance and ingredients of good gravy. Then he gives them the real juice, that Arya is alive. So Bri and Pod look to be headed to the Vale.

This episode has turned into one of the more dramatic and powerful ones in terms of history and creating new bonds. First, Arya and the Hound further their relationship to the point where he seems to care. Brienne and Pod make decision together. Jaime and Tyrion have another brotherly moment. And now Oberyn approaches Tyrion. The monster baby history was just plain sad but goes to further show how Tyrion is really just guilty of being a dwarf. Oberyn shows that as much as he loves tits and wine, he also believes in truth and justice, and I am digging this guy more all of the time. The stage is set for the Mother of all Trials by Combat, and now we will have to wait two more weeks to get it (at least).

And finally…

Are you shitting me?

Life is full of ups and downs, positives and negatives, good and evil, good and ugly, etc. This tardy recap is due to an annual fest trip that Ozzette and I venture out on where we have a fantastic time sans the lack of connectivity and HBO. Last night I am jamming the reunion of Outkast. Today, I am mourning the loss of a special woman. Keep in mind, the term special can encompass a great many things like crazy, and off-kilter, and candidate for bi-polarity, and general nutcase. Littlefinger made my Crazypants fly, and what does he get in return? He gets rewarded with the Vale and the entire damn episode named after him.

Further proof that life isn’t fair.

But let’s be honest, you could see it coming a mile away. LF didn’t love Lysa, but he wouldn’t mind controlling the Vale. And not much happens by chance with Baelish. He now controls the Vale (assuming Robin will be deemed too young or too unstable to rule and Petyr doesn’t make him fly). He controls Harrenhall. And he likely just gained a lot of favor with Sansa, so he’s got a good step in gaining Winterfell. Baelish is lining up the properties in Westeros Monopoly, and titles breed titles.
It still doesn’t make it right.

Final Thoughts: Loved the episode. Loved the interaction. Loved the new alignments. But the end was thrown right out the moon door.
