Game of Thrones scouting locations in Spain
It looks like the world of Game of Thrones is getting even bigger. We have some exciting location news about the fifth season, courtesy of Entertainment Weekly.
According to James Hibberd, the show’s scouts have been looking at locations in the Andalusia region of Spain and they are in “deep in talks with a local film commission.” This will bring the total number of countries the show has filmed in to seven, if the negotiations are successful.
EW is unable to reveal which area of the GoT world Spain may be standing in for.
Ours is the Fury: Andalusia, a territory in the south of Spain, could be standing in for an area of Essos, but the most obvious guess would be that Spain will be Dorne. George R.R. Martin has even cited Spain as one of the main inspirations for the southernmost region of Westeros, with its hot and dry climate and Moorish influence.
