There is no new episode of Game of Thrones tonight, so let’s reflect

Unfortunately, we won’t be treated to a new episode of Game of Thrones tonight. Taking a one week break for Memorial Day Weekend, the show will return next Sunday, June 1st, with the eighth episode of Season 4, The Mountain and the Viper.

We may just need this break to prepare us for the following weeks, as we’ve been promised 3 unforgettable episodes to close out what has already been an amazing Season 4. Starting with one of the best – if not the best – combat scenes David and Dan have ever done.

So instead of throwing ourselves a pity party, let’s take a moment to look back at some of the best moments we’ve been given so far.

Arya and The Hound kicked off the season in a grand fashion, with a showdown resulting in Arya crossing a name off of her list while reclaiming her Stark sword, and The Hound proving to be a general badass who really loves chicken.

In just the second episode of the season we held our breath after being hit with a friendly reminder that no one in Westeros is really safe, as King Joffrey fell, and we said goodbye to the very talented Jack Gleeson.

Daenerys arrived in Meereen with barrels full of messages for the masters, as Emilia Clarke delivered another stirring speech in Valyrian. The only thing that would have made this scene better was dragons, but we were patient.

Skipping ahead a few episodes, Tyrion’s breakdown after the ultimate betrayal was full of emotion and had us screaming at our televisions for justice, and all of the awards for Peter Dinklage.

Last week’s episode is deserving of two honorable mentions. First, for Oberyn Martell’s story of a baby, not a monster, followed by his awesome hero shot that we don’t get too many of on Game of Thrones.

And second, for poor, poor Lysa, taking flight out of her very own Moon Door at the hands of her Cat loving husband, Petyr.

What has been your favorite moment so far this year? Perhaps when we crossed seven million? Here’s to eight.

If you’re looking for something to fill the empty time-slot today, feast your ears on the latest episode of our Podcast, Game of Owns, or your eyes on the latest from our weekly recap show, WiC Live.
