Alex Graves on the Season 4 Finale: It’s unlike anything we’ve seen, a very big turning point in the show
Yesterday, Alex Graves was a guest on Bloomberg West to talk about his work as a Director for Game of Thrones.
Graves details the production of Thrones, explaining that it is difficult to compare it to any other television show because of its huge scale, and ability to be firm in its storytelling. He explains the extreme amount of planning, the intense filming schedule, and the varying amount of visual effects that goes into each episode. He also reveals that his strategy in avoiding leaks had to evolve recently after being hacked, and he now keeps all of his Thrones material on an external drive.
Graves directed Sunday’s finale episode, which he says he is very proud of, and is unlike anything that’s been mounted on the show, marking a big turning point in the story. He can’t answer how many seasons it will take to wrap up the story, but does say that David and Dan will keep it focused and tight, and that he knows enough to say that there is a lot of story left to unfold before the climax can happen.
