GoT Laughs: Made in the 80’s, and the Westeros World Cup

Before HBO Go, Blu-Rays, and DVDs, the VHS ruled our televisions. It came with a certain aesthetic, and if you were a child of the 80’s, or you’re still holding onto a VCR, you’ll appreciate this video.

Mikolaj Birek has created a VHS intro for Game of Thrones that has garnered quite a lot of attention this week. Combining Hunter L Sander’s 1995 Style visuals, and the righteous 80’s style theme remix by Steve Duzz, this is what Thrones would have felt like if it had arrived a few decades early.

I think we can all be thankful for the advancements in technology that have brought us the show we know and love, but no doubt an 80’s version would have been rad.

We’ve already seen Game of Thrones and the World Cup collide with Beautiful Gamers’ video mashup. Now, Nerea Palacios is bringing the sporting event straight to Westeros, with the creation of team uniforms for its houses.

Palacios shared a gallery of nine designs on Behance, which were created with the help of Nike kits, including the most popular houses, and even the Night’s Watch. If the waring families of Westeros ever decided to settle their differences on the field, they’d certainly look fresh while doing it.
