Game of Thrones wins mtvU award for ‘OMG Moment of the Year’ at SDCC

Last night at San Diego Comic-Con, mtvU gave out their first ever Fandom Awards during a special event at Petco Park.

The awards were entirely fan voted, and Game of Thrones walked away with the award for “OMG Moment of the Year.” Season 4 was full of shocking moments, but the one to beat them all was King Joffrey’s early demise. Beating out the Breaking Bad and How I Met Your Mother series finales, the release of the new Star Wars cast photo, and Ben Affleck being cast as Batman, the Purple Wedding turned out to be the biggest ‘OMG’ moment of all.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Natalie Dormer were on hand to accept the award, and looked to have had a great time on stage, and posed for some fun pictures together.

Watch Nikolaj and Natalie accept the award on behalf of the show below. Nikolaj jokes that it’s a bit strange celebrating the death of his son, while Natalie says they look forward to giving us more OMG moments.

The awards air on television Sunday, July 27 at 8 pm ET.
