Interview Roundup: Game of Thrones at San Diego Comic-Con
It was a busy day for Game of Thrones yesterday at San Diego Comic-Con. Here are the interviews with showrunners David and Dan, author George R.R. Martin, and the cast that have been released so far.
The cast and crew stopped by the Entertainment Weekly Hideout to chat with James Hibberd.
Showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss, along with cast members Gwendoline Christie, Pedro Pascal, and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau were first up. David and Dan talk about what Spain has to offer, adding Dorne into the mix next season, and everyone reminisces on the huge reaction to Oberyn’s death. Gwendoline touches on her big fight scene, and Nikolaj gives a deadpan ‘no’ on if he can tell us about what’s coming up for Jaime.
Next up were author George R.R. Martin, Rose Leslie, Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams, Kit Harington, Rory McCann and John Bradley. They talk about navigating Comic-Con amongst the frenzy, and George reiterates that he won’t be writing an episode for Season 5. Sophie comments on her ‘Darth Sansa’ transformation, Maisie teases Arya in Season 5, and Kit says it’s safe to assume he’ll be working with Team Dragonstone this year.
Entertainment Weekly also took some great portraits of our cast, and David Benioff claiming the crown.
The cast talked to Yahoo TV about their Comic Con experience and reaction to the fans, and being a part of the Game of Thrones phenomenon.
Access Hollywood spoke with Gwendoline Christie about the experience of her very first Comic-Con, her sword training for Game of Thrones, and filming the big fight between Brienne and The Hound. She also talks about working with Daniel Portman, and the show’s recent Emmy Nominations. When asked what we can expect from Season 5, she simply says that “Brienne of Tarth may well continue to kick ass.”
Maisie also spoke about her Comic-Con experience, which she says was even more overwhelming than meeting the Queen. She discusses the Queen’s set visit, recalling her entire interaction with Her Majesty, and the amazing year both she and the show have had.
Access Hollywood also spoke briefly with Nikolaj Coster-Waldau about how Jaime will be feeling in Season 5 after what transpired in the privy. “It’s tricky – he helped Tyrion escape but I don’t think Jaime expected Tyrion to go and kill their father. That wasn’t really cool, I think.”
This one’s not an interview, but it’s quite fun. TV Guide had a drone capture the cast’s time on their yacht. They posed for pictures, and when they notice the drone they have a bit of fun waving at it, while Nikolaj has a close encounter near the end of the video.
A few more interviews with Pedro Pascal at Brewery Ommegang’s “Valar Morghulis” tasting event have popped up.
Blastr shared a drink with Pedro while chatting about his Comic-Con experience so far, the massive reaction and outpouring of love for his portrayal of Oberyn, his favorite moment ever from Game of Thrones, and his love for Han Solo.
Pedro joked with Zap2It that Oberyn would have enjoyed the beer tasting event very much, and talks about how lucky he feels to have been a part of Game of Thrones and to have portrayed such a great character.
Access Hollywood has uploaded the video version of their interview with Pedro.
