Game of Thrones begins filming in Magilligan
While filming of Braavos (and maybe King’s Landing) continues apace in Croatia, up in Northern Ireland, there’s another Game of Thrones filming locale that’s up and running. According to the BBC, filming has gotten underway in Magilligan, in northwest County Londonderry. Their sources say filming is happening “in the woods under Binevenagh Mountain.” They cite a local parish as feeding the cast and crew. (Tweet confirming that here.) Sadly, no discussion of what’s being filmed and who’s there, just how great the tourism spike will be.
The Daily Mail managed to grab a couple of pictures. See below!
So this mostly looks to be crew setting up…
This on the other hand, looks like filming. But god knows who or where? My best guess might be Brienne and Pod? (The person in costume on the far right does look Pod-shaped.) They’re the only two I can think of who are out on the road right now, and this looks a lot like where we saw the fight with The Hound take place at the end of last season.
Here’s a third pic, via Dean McLaughlin, a BBC journalist who has been tracking filming.
Here’s a shot of the overall landscape, via wikipedia.
This does look like where Arya left the Hound last season. But then again, they were close to the Vale, a character from there may decide to take a road trip. It’s really tough to tell–speculate away.
