Art Parkinson Confirms Rickon, Osha Still AWOL
It was huge news last month when Hodor, er, Kristian Nairn dropped that he and Ellie Kendrick, who plays Meera Reed would not be back for Season 5. In the hubbub that followed, where everyone asked will Bran or won’t Bran be back, and how, no one stopped to ask the obvious question. What about the other Stark brother, Rickon, and his traveling guardian Osha?
Mild spoilers and book-reader laughter, below.
Rickon and Osha are a running joke to the A Song and Ice and Fire Community. Long before he and Osha took off for parts unknown, fans were making memes like this one, to represent how much of an afterthought Rickon was, both in the books and in the show.
To be fair, the show kept Rickon around a little longer, and (having double his age from 3 to 6) gave him a few more lines than the books. In the books, he and Osha are dispatched at the end of Clash Of Kings, (basically Season 2) never to be seen again. The show kept him around until Season 3, before doing the same.
And it looks like that will continue to be the case. At the Red Carpet Premiere of Dracula Untold, Flicks and the City asked Art Parkinson if he would be back.
It’s good to see how much he’s grown though. If any of the Rickon Theories are true, at least his return (if it ever happens) will be quite the entrance.
