New details of Jaime Lannister’s story in Season 5
Our intrepid eyes on the ground in Sevilla have been doing their best to get photos of filming, but the high walls and lock down of the historical building have made it harder than we feared to get anything so far. But tipster Jon Phillips did manage to get a few shots we can share with you.
Another source, though unable to get pictures, has told our brave companions at Los Siete Reinos all about a scene they saw filmed, and it involves one of the larger changes the show is making to the original books.
I mentioned yesterday which book plotline I thought Jaime might be fulfilling. The spoilery description of what he’ll actually be doing is below, plus a bit of speculation.
According to Los Siete Reinos’ source:
Jaime and Bronn discover Trystane and Myrcella kissing. They approach and Myrcella, who is surprised at seeing Jaime in Dorne, and asks her “uncle” what he’s doing there. Trystane offers his hand to Jaime (who greets him with the left). They exchanged a few words that are more heated.
Trystane tries to draw his sword, but Bronn knocks him unconscious. Jaime to try to take Myrcella away, but a whip yanks his gold hand away. Enter the three Sand Snakes. All are engaged in a fight that ends when Areo Hotah shouts to stop.
As I mentioned yesterday, my going theory of what Jaime is doing in Dorne, is that he will ultimately fulfill the role that Balon Swann does in the books. It would make sense to send him with the Mountain’s head to offer it to Dorne as a peace offering after Oberyn’s death. It would also make sense that Cersei would entreat him to bring her Myrcella back undoing Tyrion’s sending her away, and that he would agree. (I assume he will feel guilty and responsible for releasing Tyrion, and need to make up for it.) There’s more to the Swann plot than that, which you can read at the link. Whether or not Jaime is involved with the rest, we can not be sure. The underhanded parts of Cersei’s plan could be assigned to Bronn?
Anyone else got theories as to what this scene might be leading to for Jaime? Sound off in the comments. And remember, if you’ve got any stories or pictures from Seville, let us know.
