Pranking Alfie, strong women, and more in GOT panel at Comikaze Expo

Stan Lee’s Comikaze Expo took place this weekend in Los Angeles, and included a Game of Thrones panel with actors Gwendoline Christie, Alfie Allen and Esme Bianco. (Well, two of them are still on the show, Esme’s Ros was killed off rather spectacularly in Season 3.) Adrienne Curry moderated.

We’ve got a couple of pictures from the event, plus the stories the actors shared, after the jump.

Alfie’s told a story of a prank from Season 2:

“I got a fake script at the end of the second season telling me that I was going to die. They left me for about four weeks tearing my hair out and then they decided to tell me.”

I mean, if you haven’t read ahead in the books as an actor on the show, that’s a pretty easy prank to pull. (For the record, I do understand why actors don’t want to read ahead, because it will affect their performance if they know what’s coming. But still.)

Gwendoline talked about the portrayal of women in the show, and the perceived sexism that’s inherent in the story.

“I am very aware that gender inequality is still very alive in our world. However, the female characters in ‘Game of Thrones’ are some of the strongest female characters we have seen in recent times on television. I applaud that. I’m very passionate about the way women are portrayed, and I am very proud of the work that is continuing to be done by this television show in mainstream media. It may be small steps but I am very grateful they are being taken.”

There’s no official video of the panel as of yet, but if one hits the net in the next day or so, we’ll post it here.
