News roundup: scorpions, soldiers, and superheroes
The scorpions! The superheroes! The man who knew nothing! All this and more in today’s news roundup!
First up is the latest Making Game of Thrones post, where we meet the newest members of the cast: the scorpions. Hit the jump to watch Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss handle these dangerous creatures…
(Yes, D.B. Weiss jokingly threatens his kids with a scorpion. No, this is not foreshadowing of anything in Season 5 except that apparently there are scorpions involved.)
In other news, a trailer has emerged for Kit Harington’s latest film project, Testament of Youth. The film adapts the first part of the memoirs of Vera Brittain, who wrote about her personal experiences during the First World War and her emerging pacifist beliefs. Harington is playing Roland Leighton, Vera’s fiance and a soldier-poet of sorts. (So, yes, he apparently knows more than Jon Snow, as these things go.) The film premieres in the UK on January 16th, 2015. Here’s the trailer:
Lastly, DC Comics and Warner Bros.’ search for a Wonder Woman film director has circled back around to Michelle MacLaren, who is once again the frontrunner, according to The Hollywood Reporter. MacLaren is a veteran TV director, with credits on shows such as The Walking Dead and several of the best-loved episodes of Breaking Bad. She joined the roster of Thrones directors in Season 3 with “The Bear and the Maiden Fair” and “Second Sons”, then followed up with “Oathkeeper” and “First of His Name” in Season 4. She’s not the only director in the running, but she’s definitely one of the strongest candidates. (Amazon strong, even.)
