A Game of Thrones Gift Guide: Holiday parties are coming
Christmas is around the corner, and we here at WiC are ready to help you nerd out for the holidays. Today’s installment of our Game of Thrones Gift Guide focuses on gifts for the home, so you can be ready for a Thrones-themed Christmas party.
First up, Christmas cards, for those who love to send that sort of thing. Etsy has a variety of handmade creations, but my two favorites are this one from TheOneCreativeBird (spelling mistake aside) and the one at the top of the post from CraftingTiger, which, though still Stark related, could easily be sent by a Lannister with their regards.
Trimming the tree will be extra fun with these laser-engraved GoT ornaments from MerryNerdChristmas. Make sure to carve out different territories for different Houses, hang the allied houses close to each other, and be thankful there’s not one for House Frey.
For those who are looking to show their House colors while drinking at the party, Etsy has a variety of shot glasses. My personal favorites come from professional glass makers NexusGlass, but there are plenty of others if these are not your taste. For the beer drinkers, there are plenty of pint glasses. For those who want to take their booze on the good, you can even (WARNING AT LINK: spoilers for non-readers) personalize yourself a flask. And of course, you want to keep your furniture nice, so don’t forget coasters.
Party games! What nerds haven’t spent their time in the kitchen, forming words out of the magnetic poetry on the fridge? Now there’s a Game of Thrones themed set (with plenty of Hodor!) done in the proper font for your dadaist poetry pleasure.
For the nerd capitalist, there’s Game of Thrones Monopoly, because of course there is. The good news is the game won’t take as long to play as reading the books. This is a digital copy, so if you buy it, they send you the PDFs and you print it out.I’m more of a playing card person for party games, so these beautifully designed playing cards are more up my alley. Note that this is version two of the set, with the Stark family not including the deceased Ned, Catelyn, or Robb. Using Littlefinger and Varys as the wild cards is pretty inspired.
