Jon Snow, Nymeria Sand to play with gossip columns, lightsabers
Ice and fire are making their way to more upcoming films, as Kit Harington and Jessica Henwick (who will be playing one of the Sand Snakes in the upcoming season of Game of Thrones) have been cast in two very different projects.
Deadline is reporting that Kit Harington will be playing the titular role in The Death and Life of John F. Donovan. The film follows Donovan, “whose correspondence with an 11-year-old actor living with his mother in England is exposed, prompting ill-founded assumptions that begin to destroy his life and career.” Harington is playing opposite Hollywood mega-wonder Jessica Chastain, who will portray the editor of a gossip magazine that targets Donovan when the relationship is made known. The film will be the English-language debut of Quebecois-based filmmaker Xavier Dolan, who recently won accolades (and U.S. distribution) for his film Mommy.

Jessica Henwick has yet to appear in Thrones; she’ll be debuting in Season 5 as one of Oberyn Martell’s bastard daughters, collectively known as the “Sand Snakes” (“Sand” is the surname used to designate bastard children in Dorne). But she’s already been found in another huge sci-fi/fantasy project. On the day the trailer for Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens accosted the Internet, BBC journalist Lizo Mzimba revealed via Twitter that Henwick was also part of the cast of the film.
Given J. J. Abrams’s legendary obsession with secrecy and reveals, we don’t actually know what role she’ll be playing. However, ComicBookMovie.com notes Henwick’s background in Wushu (a Chinese martial art) might indicate a physically demanding role. In Star Wars terms, that probably means “Jedi” or “Sith”, which means that unlike her father, if you strike down Nymeria Sand, she will only become more powerful than you can possibly imagine.
Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens hits theaters on December 18th, 2015. Check out the trailer below:
