Natalie Dormer set to star in Woman in Red on BBC Two
Known for her role as Margaery Tyrell on Game of Thrones, Natalie Dormer has been busy acting outside the confines of Westeros, as well. The actress shaved half her head for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, which only bolstered her already stunning beauty. And now, she will be acting in a historical piece for BBC Two.
Isle of Wight County Press Online reporting that Natalie Dormer will portray Lady Seymour Worsley in a BBC2 drama. The original story came from The Telegraph, who describes the movie as factual and scandalous:
“It was the tale that scandalised 18th-century high society, featuring an outrageous court case, one passionate woman, and love affairs galore.
Now, the BBC is to broadcast the true story of Lady Seymour Worsley for the first time, bringing the audacious details of the “woman in red” to life on screen.”
Born Seymour Dorothy Fleming, Lady Worsley was rumored to have had 27 lovers. And in February 1782, her husband, Sir Richard Worsley, brought a criminal conversation case for £20,000 against one of those lovers, George M Bisset.
This isn’t the first time that Dormer has acted in a historically based piece, as she previously starred in The Tudors for the BBC. According to Natalie:
“I am thrilled to be playing a woman who was so ahead of her time. Though our story is set in the 18th century, it challenges and explores the issues still fully relevant today of freedom and equality. To be home in London shooting with such a talented ensemble in front and behind the camera is a real treat”
