Of course, his most notable accomplishment, in the minds of most Thrones fans, is his work on Game of Thrones. In 2011 and 2013, Ramin was nominated for the IFMCA for Best Original Score for Television Series, and in 2013 he won an ASCAP for Top Television Series. In 2014 Mr. Djawadi won the Online Film & Television Association award for Best Music in a Series.
Recently, Ramin was tasked with scoring Duncan Jones’ Warcraft movie. based on Blizzard Entertainment’s wildly popular MMORPG World of Warcraft. Duncan Jones sat down with Chinese website Mtime, and praised Ramin Djawadi’s work. (Article translated by Man Made Movies)
“While this work is going on, music composer Ramin Djawadi continues to build up a magnificent score for the film. As we complete our edit, Ramin’s music is being tailored to the cut. I am very excited. Day by day our film gets closer to being finished!”
For his newest project, Ramin won’t be straying far from home, as he has been tagged to score the pilot for HBO’s newest original series, Westworld. The show is set in an amusement park of sorts, and is described as a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin.
With Jonathan Nolan (The Dark Knight), at the helm, Westworld seems like it will take on that dark and gritty undertone that the Nolan brothers do so well. Which means Ramin Djawadi should feel right at home.
