Quebec City to host Game of Thrones Season 4 Blu-ray/DVD launch
A Quebec online news site, Le Journal de Quebec, is reporting that The Hotel de Glace of Quebec City will be hosting the launching of Game of Thrones Season 4 on DVD and Blu-ray.
Quebec City
The site describes the launch event, and by all appearances, Quebec City is rolling out the red carpet, so to speak.
“Actors of the popular series Game of Thrones could be visiting The Hôtel de Glace of Québec city , in the next few days for the launch of Season 4 DVD/Blu-ray box set. From what the journal could learn, The Hôtel de Glace will transform itself for the time of an evening to the colours of the highly popular medieval series broadcasted on HBO. The broadcaster and organizer of the evening, HBO Home Entertainment Canada, said that this was an ‘exclusive to Québec City’ event.”
Now, it’s important to emphasis that the site uses the word “could” in regard to any of the Game of Thrones actors actually attending the event. The piece goes on to say that The Hotel de Glace (literally translated to The Ice Hotel), is staying silent on this event.
“The Hôtel de Glace stays silent on this event which will take place at the end of the month. Last year, it was the team of the animated movie Frozen who came to The Hôtel de Glace to mark the launch of the movie on DVD. The spokeswoman Alicia Rochevrier would not, however, give more details on the course of the evening surrounding Game of Thrones. Guest’s media, including The National Post and Etalk, will also be able to explore the city of Québec, with a guided tour the next day.”
The Québec Winter Carnival organizers have decided to do an ice sculpture of the Iron Throne for the occasion, which will be near the carnival mascot Ice Palace. The icy Iron Throne will be carved by artist Marc Lepire whose website is full of his beautiful work.
According to head of public relations, Patrick Lemaire, the throne will be built to full-scale, and will then be accessible in front of the Parliament in Place de l’Assemblée-Nationale the 28th of January.
The 28th coincides with the latter end of the IMAX Game of Thrones experience, leaving this one to wonder if their IMAX des Galeries de la Capitale will be partaking in that particular event.
We want to hear from you. Do you live in or near Quebec City? Will you be there hoping to get some autographs of your favorite Game of Thrones actors (should they attend)? Maybe freezing your tuchas off on the Icy Throne is your thing? Let us know in the comments below.
