Game of Thrones art: The work of Marc Simonetti

Marc Simonetti Iron Throne (Game of Thrones ASOIAF)

Having read George R R Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire and watched HBO’s Game of Throne I’ve had the feeling that sometimes iconic scenes from the books get diminished it the transition from the pages to the television screen. It’s not necessarily a bad thing, as even the mighty HBO has a budget, to which the network must adhere.

Check out a bunch more after the jump….

I’ve often found myself having to take the proverbial grain of salt, as I watch each episode, and I am a huge fan of the show as well as the books. Why didn’t they show Dragonstone in all of it’s dragony Targaryen glory? Why isn’t the Iron Throne more jagged and spiky?

Well, thanks to the brilliant artwork of Marc Simonetti, we can actually see how GRRM’s imagination works, and I must say, it’s fantastic. The Bearded Bard himself, approved of Mr. Simonetti’s work, in his Not A Blog.

Marc’s work can be seen in the recently published The World of Ice & Fire, and his cover art for the French versions of the first five books in the A Song of Ice and Fire series.
