Game of Thrones nominated for Director’s Guild Awards

The 67th Annual Directors Guild Awards were announced last week and once again, Game of Thrones made the list. The show is nominated in the Outstanding Directorial Achievement in a Dramatic Series category for Alex Graves’ work on the Season 4 finale, “The Children”.

This is Game of Thrones’ third nomination since its beginning. It was previously nominated in 2011 for the Season 1 pilot “Winter is Coming” directed by Tim Van Patten. It was also nominated last year for David Nutter’s work on the Red Wedding episode “The Rains of Castamere.” It lost both times, to The Killing and Breaking Bad.

The competition is tight again this year as the show goes against other previous nominees like Homeland (nominated for two episodes), and newcomers like True Detective. Both of the Homeland directors are long-time veterans of this category with previous wins under their belt as well. This is also Alex Graves’ second DGA nomination. He was previously nominated in this category for his work on The West Wing back in 2002.

The full list of Game of Thrones’ category is below.
