Bryan Singer confirms Sophie Turner as Jean Grey in X-Men: Apocalypse
Earlier this month we talked about the news that Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark), might be portraying mutant Jean Grey in the next X-Men movie, X-Men: Apocalypse. At the time, there was no confirmation, and Sophie faced some pretty stiff competition from Hanna star, Saoirse Ronan.
Well, it seems that Fox and Bryan Singer has made their decision, and Sophie has been officially confirmed as the newest Jean Grey, via Singer’s Twitter account…..
Meet our new and brilliant young mutants: @Alexshipppp as #Storm @SophieT as #JeanGrey and @TyeSheridan as #Cyclops. #XmenApocalypse

This is big news for Sophie, as X-Men: Apocalypse will be a major motion picture with huge box-office blockbuster potential. Sophie is joined by singer Alexandra Shipp (Storm), and Mud star Tye Sheridan (Cyclops).
New younger actors are needed for this newest installment in the X-Men movie franchise, thanks to the semi-reboot the series has undergone since X-Men: First Class. This film will also be set in the 1980’s. X-Men: Apocalypse is set to hit theaters on May 27, 2016.
The big question is whether Turner will be playing the more mild-mannered Marvel Girl form of Jean Grey, or something closer to the star-destroying Phoenix. Based on her versatility in Game of Thrones, it seems likely she’d succeed at both.
