Richard Dormer on Beric returning to Game of Thrones

Richard Dormer as Beric Dondarrion

The last we saw of Richard Dormer’s Beric Dondarrion was in Season 3, Episode 7 “The Bear and the Maiden Fair”.

Since then, there have been no sightings of Lord Beric or The Brotherhood Without Banners. He did not appear in Season 4, and now thanks to Esquire, we know that we won’t see him for the foreseeable future.

See what Richard Dormer has to say about Beric after the jump.

Esquire sat down with Mr. Dormer to discuss his newest project Fortitude and asked him if we would see him again in Game of Thrones. This was his answer:

“Well, they haven’t told me about it, so I don’t think so.”

Esquire went on to ask him if he actually watches Game of Thrones, and his answer was mildly shocking, to me, anyway.

“You know I haven’t seen a single episode! I hear it’s amazing, but I missed out on the first couple of seasons, and thought, Where am I going to find the time? Then I got the part of Beric. Beric was a noble character, a leader of men. Kind of like Robin Hood. So I thought, that’s how I’ll play the guy.”

So for now, or until the producer and writers ask him to rejoin the cast, it would appear Richard Dormer is done with Game of Thrones. And that’s a shame, because I really liked the character of Lord Beric Dondarrion, the Lightning Lord.
