Volume II of Catch the Throne: The Mixtape is set to drop next month, in anticipation of Season 5 of Game of Thrones. We’ve already heard a sample of Killswitch Engage’s contribution, and now thanks to Complex, we can listen to rap artist Talib Kweli’s full song debut, “Lord of the Light”, which you can listen to by clicking the link.

According to Complex, “Lord of the Light” is the first drop from the Catch the Throne: The Mixtape Volume II, which is produced by Launch Point Records. Kweli talks about his love of Game of Thrones and how he “nerded out” with the song:
“I am a huge fan of Game of Thrones and I feel honored that HBO asked me to be involved at this level. I really nerded out on this song and there’s a Game of Thrones reference in just about every line”
It seems like HBO has given each artist a specific focus–Kweli has the Red God, so he mostly raps about Stannis and the Brotherhood Without Banners. It’s probably a wise move, as this song seems significantly more focused than last year’s “Game of Thrones word bank.”
You can also listen to just a small snippet of Anthrax’s song for the mixtape, provided by the official Game of Thrones YouTube page, which apparently will have to do with The Mountain.
Scott Ian is right, harps and lutes really don’t belong when watching The Mountain, on screen.
