The Tenors of Forte Sing Game of Thrones Opera

We see Game of Thrones opening theme videos all the time, from string versions to drum and bass to that really awesome country western cover. But considering how epic the show is, and how high melodrama the plot is, it’s surprising we haven’t had a really good opera cover yet. Maybe that’s proof of how hard it is to write good opera?

Well, singers Josh Page, Sean Pannikar, and Hana Ryu, known as The Tenors of Forte, have remedied that. And better yet, their Opening Titles operetta is written in High Valyrian. As it should be.

We’ve got the video below, and the lyrics in both the original Valyrian, and translated for those who might be a little behind in their studies.

Here are the lyrics (Courtesy of TheNerdist.)

Skorī dēmalȳti tymptir tymis, ērinis iā morghūlis.
Skorī dēmalȳti tymptir tymis, ērinis iā morghūlis.
Ñuhor līr gūrēnna.
Skoros morghot vestri?
Tubī daor.
Kessa? DAOR
Bantis zōbrie issa se ossȳngnoti lēdys.

GAME OF THRONES // CHAOS IS A LADDER

When you play the Game Of Thrones, you win or you die.
When you play the Game Of Thrones, you win or you die.
I will take what is mine.
What do we say to death?
Not Today.
Yes? NO
The night is dark and full of terrors.
