Manish Arora Presents “Winter Is Coming” Line at Paris Fashion Week

First Vivienne Westwood got into the Game of Thrones groove, casting Gwendoline Christie, better known as the mannish Brienne of Tarth to walk as part of her cross dressing/unisex presentation. But that wasn’t the only inroads the show made into the fashion world this season. Though the crowd has been slower to embrace the worldwide phenomenon as part of it’s inspiration as it did, say, Downton Abbey, after a while the series’ popularity became too much to ignore.

Manish Arora, the candy colored pop designer, took the plunge this season with a full line, which he entitled “Winter Is Coming.” Two Game of Thrones references in a season suggests the show has finally arrived in the fashion world. Unfortunately it did not hit the third reference, which would automatically give it “trend” status.

Check out some of the looks below.

Fair warning: For those who think a collection based on the words famously uttered by the late great Eddard Stark would be the grey and black and white fest of his family’s costumes on the show, you don’t know Manish Arora‘s design aesthetic.

This is a designer who regularly gives Lisa Frank a run for her money.

Sansa Stark would probably love this stuff.

Cersei would roll her eyes at it, and then quietly put away a look or two “for posterity.”

Margaery would ask if there was a blue and gold one, and then her grandmother’s opinion.

Dany would ask Drogon his opinion before the dragon roasted and ate the fattest model on the catwalk for a snack.

Still, if you’re looking for sparkly ravens, fashionable helmets, and an adorably dangerous wolf head emblazoned on your bodice, you have come to the right place. Check out the full collection here.
